I am surprised the Supreme Court ruled the Affordable Health Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is constitutional. Chief Justice John Roberts joined the four liberal justices against the other four conservatives in a 5-4 ruling. Roberts wrote in the majority opinion that his job is to find ways to determine laws are constitutional, rather than look for any way possible to strike a law from the books. I think any judge–especially one gifted enough to reach the Supreme Court dais–is able to find a justification for saying a law is either just or unjust, depending on his or her viewpoint. Put it this way. After the Supreme Court rejected, 7-2, the Obama administration’s main argument that national health care is allowed under the commerce clause of the Constitution, Roberts could have let things lie.
